I am getting crazy annoyed with all of it. We are currently waiting to hear back from the county of Leduc on the acreage we put a deposit on, I mean seriously, how long does it take to determine how big the acreage is going to be, for zoning, in the mean time I have a mare that is about to foal, and AQHA that is giving me stress over DNA of my mares mother. I am hoping that what I have for them will do, but we will see. Hopefully things will get moving so we can get this place all cleaned up, it is a disaster, lots of burning of old buildings, moving things, tearing down and building up. My hubby sure does like to pick the fixer up-ers :SJazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-43515133206594836522012-05-04T20:44:00.000-07:002012-05-04T21:21:29.712-07:00San Dee's Family Tree

She was born on March 2,2011 at 1:48 AM, weighing 7 lbs & 9 oz, nineteen and a half inches long. She is the joy of our life and is always making us smile. Life has been definitely different since she arrived, but in a good way. She is growing like a weed, we have our 6 week check up today with the child health nurse, but I can already tell she has gained weight and is getting longer. Not so little anymore, even though I wish she was.Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-57653898630732626662011-01-24T04:32:00.000-08:002011-01-24T04:37:51.766-08:00Red Velvet CupcakesI wanted to make a yummy treat and I was craving red velvet cupcakes, so I found the recipe and made them, but I never ate any of them! These are some I had taken at the Belmont Forum, which is our little mall. These are of the art of Kurt Wenner, 3D sidewalk artist. This was before the christmas season, so it was going along with the holiday cheer. Check out some of his other art at www.kurtwenner.com he has done some work for the Calgary Stampede, as well as some work in Vancouver. Very talented artist.

Kurt Wenner is a Master Artist and Master Architect famous for inventing three-dimensional pastel drawings. Also known as: 3D Street Painting, 3D Pavement Art, 3D Chalk Art, or 3D Sidewalk Art, they are a form of anamorphic art. Anamorphism is usually considered a form of Illusion or Trompe loeil, but is really the logical mathematical continuation of Perspective.

Once known as Madonnari, Street Painters, Pavement artists, Chalk Artists, and Sidewalk Artists have designed impermanent or Ephemeral Art for centuries. Currently, Kurt Wenner is writing a Street Painting History, explaining how sidewalk art and pavement art transformed itself into a spectacular medium, popular in Advertising, Publicity and numerous Street Painting Festivals.

A Madonnaro or chalk artist in Italy may be a Strassenmaler in Germany, a Sidewalk Artist in the United States, or a Pavement Artist in Britain, but street painting and pavement art have been transformed beyond recognition. While studying classical architecture and perspective, Kurt Wenner applied the principles of classical drawing and classical design to the sidewalk, completely transforming the art form.

Masterpieces in Chalk was the National Geographic documentary that established 3D Street Painting as a new art form, but only after 15 years could other artists (with the aid of computer programs) replicate the illusions. Today, artists like Julian Beever, Manfred Stader, Edgar Muller and numerous artists create 3 Dimensional Pastel Drawings, sometimes original and often emulating Kurt Wenner early works.

In fact, 3D Pavement Artists, 3D Sidewalk Artists, and 3D Chalk artists can all trace the roots of their work back to the street art of Rome in 1982, where Kurt Wenner transformed the complex geometry of Classical Italian Architecture into a new form of Popular Art. Whether they are called Street Paintings, Chalk Paintings, Sidewalk Paintings or pavement art, if they have a three-dimensional illusion they can be traced back to Kurt Wenner pastel drawings.

In addition to creating 3D Street Painting for Publicity and Advertising, Kurt Wenner designs Villas and Residential Architecture. Summer??It makes no sense to me that its summer here, I may sound crazy but I miss the cold & snow, I suppose its part of who I am... also considering I am 24 week preggo, plus 30 C weather hasn't been very fun. Apparently we haven't even gotten into our summer yet, it is hot when it is plus 40 C... o joy! Part of me wants to come home just to have the snow, and christmas the way it should be. I suppose I could try an Australian christmas, but I think I have convinced myself that I won't like it, and that it won't be the same as home. Wish me luck... and hopefully next year we will be home for christmas or at least living on the north american continent, maybe not but here's hoping!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-6036000008006481032010-10-03T23:04:00.001-07:002010-10-04T01:10:55.432-07:00Perth Royal Show 2010Last week I had the opportunity to go to the Perth Royal Show, it is like a carnival, or perhaps like the Calgary Stampede (without the rodeo & chuck wagon racing), fairly fun, they have the agricultural aspect, with all the different breeds of cows, horses, sheep & dogs.

The kids were pretty excited about the Holstein calf they got to pet. They had some sheep herding competition as well, which I have never seen, only seen the dogs work the cows out in the fields, so it was fun to see that and sure did remind me of Linda & Doug back home.

The relay race before the fireworks sure was interesting, completely different than what we have ever done at home. The horses were dressed up in the team colors with rope lights, they just carried the flags. The two teams had to perform different tasks, from sheep herding (one of the dogs must have gotten excited because he ran away back to where I think his actual owner was, maybe he was nervous from all the people and excitement going on), two teams had the yearling calves and had to race each other around a pole, pulling these calves as they go, they chopped wood, and unloaded and loaded hay into their so called trucks (utes). If one team got one task done before the other, the horses would race around the arena, while the music was the theme from the Man from Snowy River (an Australian movie)Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-57864567483722853472010-09-27T06:20:00.000-07:002010-12-28T04:18:29.830-08:00Zoo-GroovinWhat a surprise! Robin had a three day weekend! So on Saturday we got the house cleaned, bought groceries, Sunday was church in the morning and we ran away early to go play at the beach, it was a bit windy but the ocean smelled so good! Monday, we spent the entire day walking the Perth Zoo, a very nice zoo, but I think that the Calgary Zoo is better put together and a bit bigger. My silly blog is being weird and not letting me upload photos, so I will try to laterJazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-86240192374989803352010-09-10T20:52:00.000-07:002010-09-10T20:54:57.409-07:00Nothing NewWell, it has been fairly quiet, not much going on, just lots of walking. I do love my new craft cutter I got, the SD Silhouette by quickutz. I have been in the making of christmas count down cubes, I need to take some photos and post my crafts and such on here, I always seem to forget though. So I am going to work on them and when I am done I will post them! Happy blogging everyone!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-21405505127346060712010-08-19T19:36:00.000-07:002010-08-19T19:47:44.231-07:00Nothing Much NewWell there really hasn't been anything new going on this side of the world, walking and taking photos of the birds, trees & plants. Still wanting to go to the zoo soon, or to a park with the kangaroos. Robin has been working, and that is about it for him, he may have to go offshore on sunday night, and he isn't sure for how long, so I could be by myself for a few days to a few weeks, hopefully it is only a few days.

Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-73401491884496292562010-07-13T21:07:00.000-07:002010-07-13T21:33:21.967-07:00Head Cold In JulyWell, the rain has finally stopped!! Thank goodness, I was starting to get cabin fever. I gave a talk on sunday in church which went very well. Robin was at home sick with the stomache flu, so I drove to church all by myself. Which was kinda scary because I got comfortable and forgot what side of the road I should drive on when I had to turn, so I waited until I saw someone coming on the road I had to turn on. I unfortunately I also got a head cold, going on day 3 now, so I have been keeping up on my vitamin C, drinking lots of water & getting lots of sleep. Here are some winter photos of Australia, the birds were very fun to visit, until some naughty kids along and chased them away and teased the black swans, which was a stupid thing to do, luckily no one got bitten, but after they left I didn't have any birds to visit or take photos of, so I went home.

These are some cute little local girls feeding the birds, which they are not suppose to unless its worms or snails, but they are giving them bread which gives the birds stomache aches.

The beautiful black swan of Western Australia, I have seen a few of these at different places in the city.

Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-67402689576485787192010-07-08T19:40:00.000-07:002010-07-08T19:50:54.599-07:00Rain, Rain, Rain & More RainWell it has been raining & thunderstorming for two days, so I haven't been able to get out of the house because I do not have a umbrella or a rain jacket, and when it rains here it down pours, no light drizzles. I went and bought a second hand sewing machine, its a Singer Futura 1000. Silly me forgot to buy scissors & pins, I bought a pattern, fabric & thread, so I am hoping the rain will let up enough to let me walk to Belmont Forum or enough for me too find a fabric store.

Trying to sleep with all this rain is a trying task, there is no insulation in the houses so we can hear everything going on outside, it sounds like there is wind all around you and that the rain will actually get in the house. So I grabbed my iphone and loaded music on it that helped me fall alseep at home when Robin wasn't there, it was nice because I couldn't hear the storm happening outside. I will take some photos of my sewing machine and the weather and post them later.Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-12564925964798440652010-07-05T20:04:00.000-07:002010-07-08T19:39:39.766-07:00Dinner Is a Success!!!

So my made up recipe was a success with the hubby last night, which was good, now I need to think of what to make for tonight! I also want to make some cupcakes, so I guess I should go buy a cupcake pan & forms. Yesterday I was brave again and took the bus to Morley, another suburb in Perth, I found a store I looked up on the internet before I came over, Galaxy beads, so I am excited to start making jewellery again, It will give me something to do!! Right now I need to get to the Belmont Forum so I can buy what I need today. Here are some more photos from our park that is 5 houses away from us.

Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-58385905500461649442010-07-02T20:36:00.000-07:002010-07-02T20:45:42.213-07:00Cold Outside???Well, things have been great here so far, its getting apparently "colder", the low at nights is -1 celsius and highs during the day has been anywhere from +15 - +20 celsius, the ladies at church think that I am crazy that I wear no stockings, and a short sleaved shirt. I have had to learn about public transportation! I have never had to take a bus before, so it was very scary, but exciting at the same time. I took the bus downtown to the Every Womens Expo, which was pretty fun, it was a good way to learn about what the city has to offer.

Other than that I have been at home, trying to think of things to make for dinner, but I have been running out of ideas!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-88895559718842305142010-06-15T21:51:00.000-07:002010-06-15T22:18:59.701-07:00Australia.... Lots To Do & SeeWell, I finally made it to Australia to be with my husband, and I haven't had time to stop and blog, now that my husband is back to work I have time to stop and blog away! I have been here for two weeks now, and we have been to two beaches, first one was Cottesloe beach.

The second one was Scarborough Beach which was lovely, the surfers were out doing their stuff, both Robin & I would love to learn how to surf!

Robin was such a sweet heart, we took me to a surpise picnic to Kings Park, which is a lovely park that was dedicated to those who lost their lives to the Japanese, they have also have made it into bontanic garden. Many different plants & trees there, as well as different brids.

Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-84525118957931668452010-05-19T17:48:00.000-07:002010-06-15T22:22:25.172-07:00My Love of The Alberta Prairies

Well, in a week from today, May 19,2010, I will be flying across the big pond to Australia, so my last week here I have been going out to my favorite places in Alberta with my horse and my adopted parents (Doug & Linda). I Love how peaceful and quiet the prairies can be, and how I feel more connected to my lovely mare (San Dee) She is an amazing horse, with quite the instinct about sick cows & calves, mostly the little baby calves. Its a great place to go and think knowing that there is nothing but cows to distract you from what you are thinking. I love being with Doug & Linda, they are both a wealth of knowledge and know so much about horses & cattle alike, I have learned so much from them in the past year. I will really miss being out there, checking cows, roping sick calves & treating HUGE bulls! I wish that I could continue learning from them and teaching San Dee more about roping and cows, even though she is a natural at it! I will miss this the most (besides my nephew & new neice!) I will miss being able to go ride all day and not have to worry about anything else. I know it will all be here when I get back, but It will be hard to leave it behind for now. So I hope my fantastic husband will be able to keep me entertained for a while! But we all know that I will be on the hunt for a stable in Perth for me to keep me busy!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-31804252580048881162010-05-10T12:01:00.000-07:002010-06-15T22:24:27.962-07:00FINALLY!!!!!Well it is official I am flying out of Canada on May 26,2010!!!! I am sooo excited to be able to go to Australia so that Robin & I can finally start our life together! We are very excited, in fact he has two weeks off of work, and apparently has been planning a "honeymoon", well it is about time!!! I will post more once I get there!!!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-69834522011632699782010-04-29T23:04:00.000-07:002010-06-15T22:25:13.984-07:00Still Here & Waiting!Well it is true, I am still in Canada waiting for my husband to get his butt back to shore, so that I can fly over the big pond and be able to walk into my new home with my new husband. I think my patience is wearing thin. It has been over two months since we saw each other, at the wedding. I guess it is better than six months :)Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-63523156244958373892010-03-10T18:28:00.001-08:002010-06-15T22:26:02.685-07:00SERIOUSLY!!So after I got Robin on the plane back to Perth, I started home in that crazy thick fog we had on the night of the 1st! I was so freaked out!!! I got out of Calgary and BAM shifty fog, and it steadily got worse and worse, by the time I hit the 550 going to Rosemary I wasn't sure where I was at times, couldn't even see the ditch that was right beside me! But not to worry I obviously got home ok, because I am here writing on my blog, again for the third time today!

Robin got into Sydney and called me to say he missed his flight to Perth and that his bags were still in Vancouver! Since he was flying back to Perth when the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics were ending, so many people going through that airport I am surprised that both of his bags found their way to Perth!

Robin was finally home and getting use to the time change, so that he could get back to work, and what does his work decide but to put him on forced days off!! SERIOUSLY!!! He could have been in Canada still spending time with me and with our family! So he has been there getting more of my paperwork done, which I suppose is a good thing, that way I can get down under faster!!!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1221025740217096854.post-60326310038484228262010-03-10T15:45:00.000-08:002010-06-15T22:26:43.230-07:00March 1 = CrazinessSo.... after the wedding, we had a busy monday, on March 1, 2010. We woke up, went to the bank and did all the paper work, then we left there and went to Rosemary for my grandpa Halls funeral, getting dressed and doing my make-up so that when we got there we were both ready. After the burial, we booted it back into Brooks where we went to visit more family before we had to run to Calgary, yes Calgary. Since Robin had to fly back to Perth, without me :( sad sad day. Only reason is because my visa paperwork was not completed over there.

Crazy day that was!Jazlyn Oliverhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03511924473960689209noreply@blogger.com0
