November... Summer??

It makes no sense to me that its summer here, I may sound crazy but I miss the cold & snow, I suppose its part of who I am... also considering I am 24 week preggo, plus 30 C weather hasn't been very fun. Apparently we haven't even gotten into our summer yet, it is hot when it is plus 40 C... o joy! Part of me wants to come home just to have the snow, and christmas the way it should be. I suppose I could try an Australian christmas, but I think I have convinced myself that I won't like it, and that it won't be the same as home. Wish me luck... and hopefully next year we will be home for christmas or at least living on the north american continent, maybe not but here's hoping!

Perth Royal Show 2010

Last week I had the opportunity to go to the Perth Royal Show, it is like a carnival, or perhaps like the Calgary Stampede (without the rodeo & chuck wagon racing), fairly fun, they have the agricultural aspect, with all the different breeds of cows, horses, sheep & dogs.

The kids were pretty excited about the Holstein calf they got to pet. They had some sheep herding competition as well, which I have never seen, only seen the dogs work the cows out in the fields, so it was fun to see that and sure did remind me of Linda & Doug back home.

The relay race before the fireworks sure was interesting, completely different than what we have ever done at home. The horses were dressed up in the team colors with rope lights, they just carried the flags. The two teams had to perform different tasks, from sheep herding (one of the dogs must have gotten excited because he ran away back to where I think his actual owner was, maybe he was nervous from all the people and excitement going on), two teams had the yearling calves and had to race each other around a pole, pulling these calves as they go, they chopped wood, and unloaded and loaded hay into their so called trucks (utes). If one team got one task done before the other, the horses would race around the arena, while the music was the theme from the Man from Snowy River (an Australian movie)

Zoo-Groovin

What a surprise! Robin had a three day weekend! So on Saturday we got the house cleaned, bought groceries, Sunday was church in the morning and we ran away early to go play at the beach, it was a bit windy but the ocean smelled so good! Monday, we spent the entire day walking the Perth Zoo, a very nice zoo, but I think that the Calgary Zoo is better put together and a bit bigger. My silly blog is being weird and not letting me upload photos, so I will try to later

Nothing New

Well, it has been fairly quiet, not much going on, just lots of walking. I do love my new craft cutter I got, the SD Silhouette by quickutz. I have been in the making of christmas count down cubes, I need to take some photos and post my crafts and such on here, I always seem to forget though. So I am going to work on them and when I am done I will post them! Happy blogging everyone!

Nothing Much New

Well there really hasn't been anything new going on this side of the world, walking and taking photos of the birds, trees & plants. Still wanting to go to the zoo soon, or to a park with the kangaroos. Robin has been working, and that is about it for him, he may have to go offshore on sunday night, and he isn't sure for how long, so I could be by myself for a few days to a few weeks, hopefully it is only a few days.

Head Cold In July

Well, the rain has finally stopped!! Thank goodness, I was starting to get cabin fever. I gave a talk on sunday in church which went very well. Robin was at home sick with the stomache flu, so I drove to church all by myself. Which was kinda scary because I got comfortable and forgot what side of the road I should drive on when I had to turn, so I waited until I saw someone coming on the road I had to turn on. I unfortunately I also got a head cold, going on day 3 now, so I have been keeping up on my vitamin C, drinking lots of water & getting lots of sleep. Here are some winter photos of Australia, the birds were very fun to visit, until some naughty kids along and chased them away and teased the black swans, which was a stupid thing to do, luckily no one got bitten, but after they left I didn't have any birds to visit or take photos of, so I went home.

These are some cute little local girls feeding the birds, which they are not suppose to unless its worms or snails, but they are giving them bread which gives the birds stomache aches.

The beautiful black swan of Western Australia, I have seen a few of these at different places in the city.
