The kids were pretty excited about the Holstein calf they got to pet. They had some sheep herding competition as well, which I have never seen, only seen the dogs work the cows out in the fields, so it was fun to see that and sure did remind me of Linda & Doug back home.
The relay race before the fireworks sure was interesting, completely different than what we have ever done at home. The horses were dressed up in the team colors with rope lights, they just carried the flags. The two teams had to perform different tasks, from sheep herding (one of the dogs must have gotten excited because he ran away back to where I think his actual owner was, maybe he was nervous from all the people and excitement going on), two teams had the yearling calves and had to race each other around a pole, pulling these calves as they go, they chopped wood, and unloaded and loaded hay into their so called trucks (utes). If one team got one task done before the other, the horses would race around the arena, while the music was the theme from the Man from Snowy River (an Australian movie)
